Nothing can quite prepare you for the souks. You can read about them, but being surrounded in the midst of all the chaotic hustle and bustle of the market vendors is an experience like no other. The Marrakech souk districts are everything you imagine them to be. It’s vibrant, bright, loud, busy, and a maze you can get lost in! And we did get lost. Twisting and turning corners was extremely overwhelming! By the time I was fed up, I used the sky to navigate us out. That sounds funny to me now, but that’s literally how we got out. The freaking sky, guises!
A souk is a farmer’s market labyrinth on steroids. Bargaining is the name of the game. Brush up your negotiating skills and get ready for the experience of a lifetime. I present to you the Marrakech souks in pictures.
The market looks absolutely vibrant and shoppers’ paradise. Bargaining as a skill i do not possess but that doesn’t stop me from adding this to my bucket list. Thank you for sharing this.
It’s definitely worth wandering around!
Nice clicks! Your pictures certainly give a true glimpse of Marrakech souks. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for stopping by!
This market is so colorful! This reminds me of the beautiful but crowded markets in Haiti. Did you end up picking up something? Those paintings are gorgeous!
I didn’t! There was so much stuff! And everything I wanted I had gotten in another area recommended by our drivers. The souks are definitely overwhelming, but a unique experience
The market looks so colorful and lively! I have never been good at bargaining, but it seems like a fun way to interact between the seller and the buyer.
This is more like bargaining on speed lol it’s a little more relentless than the norm and be overwhelming. It’s never ending. Even when you say no, I’m not interested…for the 10th time.
I was wondering where Marrakech Souks was and so I googled it. 🙂 This would be a great place to practice my bargaining skills. Mind you, I am good at that! From your pictures I see many pretty things that I would be interested to buy. I will have to experience this myself if and when I find myself traveling to Morocco.
I don’t even think we saw the whole thing. It really is a amaze of alleys, breeze ways, and back streets. It was confusing trying to get around, and all the colorful things can distract you.
I love markets like this! Your post reminds me of The Thamel street in Kathmandu Nepal, but just a difference that is you cant bargain much there. I would definitely love to visit this place one day, I am pretty good with bargaining (bragging skills) 😛
Wow, they are miles apart, but similar. That’s very cool!
I love Souk districts. They are always so interesting & you can find so many unique things there. This one looks so amazing!! Would love to visit Marrakech
That was one of the things I noticed was that there were so many different and interesting things. Not just the run of the mill things to buy
BEAUTIFUL AND VERY INTERESTING POST
Thank you! And thanks for stopping by!
